Our Mission

To provide an exemplary early childhood program to instill and foster the social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth of economically at-risk children and their families.

Our Program

Small Steps Nurturing Center operates two preschools for economically at-risk children living in the First, Second, and Fifth Wards of Houston, Texas. We provide a high-quality education, social and emotional support, a nurturing Christian environment, transportation, and nutritious meals to children in poverty, ages two through six. Small Steps operates five days a week, ten months each year, at no financial cost to the families we serve.

Clays Classic

Started in 2003 to help fund the construction of our second school in the Fifth Ward, the Small Steps Clays Classic has become an annual draw for many prominent companies. The tournament format consists of 100 targets at ten stations, with shooting lessons available to participants.

How to Help Small Steps

Small Steps depends exclusively on private donations from individuals, corporations, churches, community groups, and foundations. Help from the community is essential to continue our program.
