Small Steps depends on private donations from generous donors, including individuals, corporations, churches, community groups, and foundations. A major source of funding is through our annual fundraising events.
The Small Steps Golf Classic is a premier charity golf tournament in Houston held each fall at Champions Golf Club. The 2023 Small Steps Golf Classic is SOLD OUT!
Since the first tournament in 1996, the Golf Classic has raised more than $18 million for Small Steps Nurturing Center.
The Golf Classic is a first-class business entertainment event that is well known for the large number of great door prizes given away at the awards dinner following the tournament. In 2022, the tournament was sold out, with more than 70 corporations and individuals sponsoring the Golf Classic in support of Houston’s economically at-risk children.

The Small Steps Clays Classic was started in 2003 to help fund the construction of Small Steps’ second school in the Fifth Ward.
Building upon the momentum of the Energy Classic, the Clays Classic grew in its success and has become an annual draw for many prominent companies. In 2023, over 60 corporations, foundations, and individuals came together to sponsor the Clays Classic in support of Houston’s economically at-risk children.
The tournament format, designed by Gil Ash, consists of 100 targets at 10 stations. Additionally, each participant has the opportunity to participate in shooting games throughout the day. Following the tournament, all participants are invited to the dinner and awards ceremony. A significant number of door prizes are awarded at the conclusion of dinner.

Two Step for Small Steps is hosted by the Small Steps Young Professionals Group, and this year promises to be an entertaining evening of networking, dancing, and fun, all in support of early childhood education for children in poverty.
